Zoom in and Crop

Take random zoomed in pictures, you never know how you might use them later.
Crop them to create a library of abstract pictures.
Like when i crop this "C" from the pharmacy sign, i get this result (below) which could work as a background for a music festival poster!

It's funny to note that this french insurance company's name is "Matmut" which directly translates into : "Don't die" in arabic !

Blood bath ?

Massacre at the airport ? Or simply people coming back from lebanon with good wine in their hand luggage..

After "six billion others"
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x794ar_6-milliards-dautres-teaser_creation ,
a project that showed filmed interviews of hundreds of people from all around the world, and which was presented at Le Grand Palais in Paris offering the viewer the choice to make the same filmed interview in a studio there Link http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x84wv1_entrevues-realisees-au-grand-palais_creation, Yann Arthus Bertrand teamed up with Luc Besson to make: Home.

Home is an ode to the world, seen through Yann's lense, with beautiful landscapes from more than 54 countries in the world, delivering a more direct way to understand the planet on which we live.

Home is out in movie theaters at a symbolic price, the dvd is much cheaper than any others, and you can watch it online for free too.

Arabic shop signs

After spending a couple of days in Jordan ( where most of the shop signs are in Arabic ), i came back to Lebanon and noticed that this is becoming less and less the case. Some shops have the English (or french) word along with the Arabic one, but in a lot of cases, the shop has an Arabic name, but it's written only in Latin letters ( like Tezkar, which means souvenirs in arabic).
Even more shocking is the second example, of the word mashrou7a (a specific way to make the traditional Lebanese mankoucheh sandwich), using the number "7" (mostly used in chatting online) to indicate this letter proper to the Arabic language !

Plastic surgery anyone ?

Cedar miles is the official MEA ( Middle East Airlines) magazine that you can find on board.
While going through it, I found three advertisements for plastic surgery ! I think that ratio says a lot about the Lebanese society !

Thumbs up !

On June 7th 2009 and the few days that followed, it was funny to walk around town and look at people's thumbs, trying to find out who voted.
In order to limit corruption, everyone who voted had to cover their thumbs with semi-permanent ink!
Every lebanese has an excuse to have a dirty thumb this week !

Non smoking flight ?

While on the lookout for my earlier post about no smoking signs, i came across this bathroom door on the Air France plane. Puzzling ! On the top you can see a no smoking sign, and on the bottom a sign that indicates where to put off your cigarettes !Can we choose which one to follow if both of them are valid ?
